In charge of Amurrio Ferrocarril, in collaboration with Premoldeados de Argentina S.A.

Amurrio Ferrocarril y Equipos S.A. is carrying out in Buenos Aires the pre-assembly of the turnouts for the San Martín Viaduct, a project that, due to its extension and impact, is one of the most important in the city.

The elevation of the railroad tracks to a height of 8 meters along 5 kilometers (from Palermo station to Paternal station) will eliminate 11 level crossings, improve connectivity and road safety conditions for both cars and pedestrians.

The manufacture of the sleepers for this project is the responsibility of Premoldeados de Argentina S.A, one of the leading companies in the manufacture of concrete elements in Latin America, with extensive experience in railway and road elements.

These are the first high quality sleepers for AdV (track devices) manufactured by the company, and the collaboration with the Amurrio team sent to Buenos Aires for pre-assembly is proving to be exemplary, with excellent results.

The work is being carried out in an area of Premoldeados’ facilities in the city of Buenos Aires.

According to information on the website of the city of Buenos Aires, the railroad will be progressively elevated over the viaduct from Palermo station to La Paternal station, over the existing track. The project contemplates the addition of a third track (on the north side of the existing tracks) to allow the service of general and freight trains.

The new viaduct will allow the elimination of the urban barrier represented by the San Martín railroad tracks, which currently divide the neighborhoods of Palermo, Villa Crespo and Chacarita. Through this urban transformation, new green and public utility areas will be enabled in currently deteriorated areas, in addition to improving stormwater runoff in the surrounding area.
