Amurrio Ferrocarril y Equipos S.A. has designed, manufactured and supplied all the turnouts and track devices for the renovation of Constitución station, in line C of the subway of Buenos Aires, the popular “Subte”.

Constitución is the busiest station in Buenos Aires, with a traffic of 170,000 daily commuters. It was inaugurated in 1934, although the infrastructure of tracks and sleepers was modernized in the 90’s of the twentieth century.

The turnouts provided by Amurrio allow for higher operating speeds, while improving safety and reducing maintenance needs.

The renewal of these track devices has been a major logistical challenge, which among other difficulties, had to be lowered down to the track through the ventilation channels. Work has been carried out in the months of January and February (summer In Argentina), in which there is less traffic.

The installation of the turnouts has been carried out by UTE Herso Ferromel, under the supervision of SBASE (Subway of Buenos Aires S.E.), in close collaboration with the technical department of Amurrio Ferrocarril.
