The action is part of the modernization and improvement plan for the Madrid suburban train network.

Investment of 4.82 million for the track equipment for the renovation of the Recoletos tunnel in Madrid.

Adif has awarded the company Amurrio Ferrocarril y Equipos, for 4,824,737 euros, the contract for the supply and transport of the switches and crossings necessary for the renovation works of the Recoletos tunnel, located between the Madrid stations of Atocha Cercanías and Chamartín.

The contract is linked to the complete refurbishment of the tunnel – the section that carries the most traffic of the entire Spanish network – in which it is planned to replace the existing track and catenary with ballastless track and rigid catenary, with the aim of improving the reliability of the infrastructure.

The contract includes the manufacture, pre-assembly and workshop testing of the different track devices, as well as the loading of the equipment and transport to the site designated by the project management. It also includes the supply and transport of the mixed coupons, which allow the switchgear to be welded to the long bar.

Approximately 7 kilometers long, the Recoletos tunnel connects the Madrid stations of Atocha and Chamartín, through the intermediate stations of Recoletos and Nuevos Ministerios, serving the C-1, C-2, C-7, C-8 and C-10 commuter lines.
